Every day, seven days a week, we organize guided surf trips to the best breaks across the Mentawai archipelago. That means unlimited access to world-class waves tailored to your skill level. We visit the most exciting spots in small groups, reading conditions daily to find the perfect swell, wind, and current for your level. Choose from six different experience levels—from first-time surfers to advanced chargers. We recommend our five-day Mentawai Immersion package for beginners. Build the foundation for a lifetime of surfing in our in-house coaching program.
YOUR SURF GUIDES
Learning to surf in the Mentawai with Outer Reef's highly trained guides is transformative. In the water with you, they share tips, demonstrate techniques, and keep you safe. Our guides know every inch of these breaks the currents, the hazards, the hidden gems. They read conditions like a book and adjust your session in real-time. When the swell aligns perfectly, they'll take you to spots most surfers never find.

BOARD RENTAL
Flying with surfboards is a nightmare. Leave yours at home. We stock shortboards (5'8"–7'0"), funshapes, mini-malibus (7'0"–7'8"), and beginner-friendly long boards for every condition and skill level. Lycra and leashes included. Repairs or lost equipment are your responsibility.
PROTECT YOUR INVESTMENT
Surfboard insurance covers repair costs for one to three weeks small dings to major breaks. Our experienced team handles repairs. Note: you cover costs for lost parts or boards, even if lost in water.
BOARD RENTAL
Board transportation by plane can be difficult and arduous. No need to worry, you can rent shortboards (5’8“ to 7’0“), funshapes, mini-malibus (7’0“ to 7’8“), and a selection of Beginner long boards from us. You’ll find the right board for all weather conditions and skill levels at at our camp. Lycra and leashes are already included in the rental fee. You have to pay for repairs or lost equipment yourself.
INSURE YOUR SURF BOARD
Trust is great, insurance is better. Surfboard insurance covers repair costs over a time of one to three weeks, from small dent to severe break. Experienced pros put your board back together. Please note that the user has to cover repair costs for lost parts and boards, even when lost in water.

Our Beginner Break delivers consistent, predictable waves in a safe environment ideal for learning fundamentals without the intimidation factor. Our Learn-to-Surf package gives you everything: expert coaching, video analysis, theory sessions, and the confidence to paddle out. By day three, you'll be riding green waves. By day five, you'll understand why surfers dedicate their lives to this.
