Outer Reef Surf Travel France
Outer Reef Surf Camp Moliets sits on the wild southwest coast of France, where pine forests meet sand dunes and a long Atlantic shoreline. It is the kind of place that feels properly outdoorsy and easy going: surf, fresh air, and a camp vibe that is social when you want it, quiet when you don’t.
base yourself right by the Atlantic
We run on a simple idea: you base yourself right by the Atlantic, eat well, use the camp gear freely, and shape the week around surfing, recovery and good company. High season is the full classic week experience, while low season gives you the same setup with a bit more flexibility on arrival and departure days.
proper rest after long beach day
You stay in comfortable tents designed for proper rest after long beach days, with two main options depending on how social, or private, you want your week to feel.
Glamping tents
A quieter, more private setup with a cosier feel. Glamping includes bedding and towels, power and lighting, and access to a dining and bathroom area reserved for glamping guests.
Sharing Tents
A more affordable, social option in the heart of the camp. Sharing tents include bedding, power and lighting, and space for small groups, with the option to book privately.
This is a proper “Landes coast” week: sandy paths through the pines, dunes opening out to the ocean, and enough space to breathe even when the camp is buzzing. Days tend to fall into a good rhythm: breakfast, surf plans, time in the water, then chilled afternoons back at camp or out exploring.
If you fancy getting off the beach for a bit, this area is made for it: cycling through the pines, kayaking on the river, lake swims, local food, and long sunsets that turn into easy evenings. On site, there is always something going on, but nothing is forced. Expect a weekly plan you can dip in and out of, with social nights, movie nights, and the occasional bigger outing.
Good To know

Meals are designed for surf days: breakfast to set you up, a practical lunch box for the beach, and a proper dinner back at camp. Vegetarian and vegan options are available, and gluten free can be arranged on request.

Yoga is available as an add on and works perfectly alongside surfing: mobility, balance, and recovery so your body holds up across the week.

A big part of the week is the people you meet. The camp runs a flexible weekly plan with social nights and optional outings. Join in as much, or as little, as you like.

Shared transfers can be arranged from nearby airports and stations on changeover days. These need booking in advance, and timings can vary with traffic. Private transfers may be possible on other days depending on availability.

Camp facilities, including toilets and bathrooms, are shared, with glamping guests using facilities within the glamping area. It is pet friendly (pets need to be booked into a private setup to sleep indoors and stay supervised), and there is a quiet hours rule after 11 pm.
Moliets is a brilliant place to learn and progress: consistent beach breaks, loads of space, and an easy routine that gives you plenty of repetition. Coaching is structured around clear levels, with options to surf a little or go all in.
Lessons include an introduction, a coached water session, and a longer theory block so you understand what is happening and why. Level 1 and 2 also include surf skate or surf fitness sessions, and Level 2 includes video analysis. Schedules are set once you arrive, based on conditions and your level.
Expect qualified, friendly instructors with a calm style: clear feedback, good safety habits, and coaching that suits the conditions on the day.
to both conditions and individual progression.
Progression is organised by level, so you are not stuck in the wrong group or surfing waves that do not match what you are working on. The mix of water coaching, theory, and extra training or video feedback at higher levels helps you build skills that actually stick.
Lessons include soft top boards, wetsuit, and leash. Outside lessons, a wider range of boards and surf skating gear can be used following camp guidelines, with lessons always taking priority.
